TOUR ITINERARY
Day 1
Arrival in Gorno-Altaisk. Transfer to Chibit village

Arrival in Gorno-Altaisk.
10:00 Meeting with a guide at the airport.
Transfer to Chibit village.
Along the way, we will visit Karakol Nature Park «Uch Enmek», where we will see a traditional Altai dwelling – the ail. During this excursion, you will discover the traditional home of Altai's indigenous people: its different types, interior design, and the material and spiritual culture that surrounds it.
Next, we will head to Kalbak-Tash – the site of the largest collection of petroglyphs in Siberia. Depicted on the rocks are scenes from the daily lives of ancient people. The age of these drawings is estimated to be between 1,000 and 5,000 years.
We will also stop at the confluence of the Chuya and Katun rivers.

Day 2
Altai Mars. Geyser Lake

Excursion to the «Altai Mars» – a true wonder of nature. You will encounter unreal landscapes and astonishing colors. The reddish hue of the rock comes from its high mercury content.
Along the way, we will visit Geyser Lake – a «earthly eye» of striking turquoise color. The «geysers» come to life, releasing a mixture of bluish clay and sand to the surface, which form visible circles on the lake bottom.
Return to Chibit village. Free time.

Day 3
Chulyshman Valley. Stone Mushrooms

Today we will head to the «Stone Mushrooms».
The route takes us through the Katu-Yaryk Pass – one of the most technically challenging and most beautiful passes in the Altai Mountains. You will witness the breathtaking valley of the Chulyshman River.
After lunch, we will take a walk to the «Stone Mushrooms» – natural rock formations in the Chulyshman Valley. These are stone columns capped with «heads,» and they are a true wonder of nature.
Accommodation: сottages at a tourist camp (twin occupancy, shared facilities on the premises).

Day 4
Trekking to Uchar Waterfall

Today, a trek to Uchar Waterfall awaits you – the largest cascading waterfall in the Altai Mountains and one of the most remarkable natural wonders of the Altai Nature Reserve. The water drops from a height of approximately 160 meters.
You will be rewarded with breathtaking taiga landscapes, the rapid rivers Chulyshman and Chulcha, and crystal-clear mountain air.

Day 5
Stone Mushrooms – Lake Teletskoye – Artybash

Today, you will discover Lake Teletskoye – one of the largest bodies of water in Southern Siberia, fed by more than seventy large and small rivers. We will take a ferry across the lake, traveling from south to north together with our vehicles.
Overnight stay in Artybash village.

Distance: 50 km by car, 70 km by ferry.

Artybash – Chemal

Breakfast.
Today we transfer to the village of Chemal. Along the way, we will visit the A.V. Anokhin National Museum of the Altai Republic – the oldest cultural institution in the region, featuring collections on the ethnography of the Altai people and the Russian Old Believer population.
We will also visit the Chemal Hydroelectric Station.
Next, a walk awaits us along the picturesque «Goat's Path» – a trail running along the steep rocky shore of the Katun River. Along the way, we will see the confluence of the Chemal River with the Katun.
After that, we will head to Patmos Island, located in the middle of the Katun River and connected to the mainland by a pedestrian suspension bridge. On the island, there is a convent and the Church of St. John the Theologian.

How to get there
There are several ways to get from Moscow to the starting point of the tour:the most convenient way is by airplane to Gorno-Altaisk (about 4,5 hours from Moscow: Aeroflot, Pobeda, S7 and other airlines).
You can also get there:
– by flight to Barnaul (4 hours from Moscow, Aeroflot, S7 Airlines and others);
– by train to Barnaul (2,5 days from Moscow);
– by flight to Novosibirsk (3,5 hours from Moscow, Aeroflot, S7 Airlines and others);
– by train to Novosibirsk (2 days from Moscow)
Flight tickets to Novosibirsk are often cheaper than to Barnaul, but transfer from Novosibirsk takes longer.
Flights from Moscow to Barnaul or Gorno-Altaisk usually depart in the evening and land the next morning. Flights from Barnaul depart to Moscow in the morning and land in Moscow the same morning. There are day flights from Moscow to Novosibirsk, which are convenient to arrive at the time of the tour start. There are evening and morning flights from Novosibirsk to Moscow.
